/ By Nuno

Last week I had the privilege of meeting Miguel, and it was really great to see that he is not only a great designer, but also a really nice guy.

After some previous successful projects, there is something new in the air: Storm System.

Hope to see you soon, Miguel.

Call for Action

STORM SYSTEM developed by Miguel Rios Design responds to the question of a first individual nomad clothing protection against weather adversities.

Completely waterproof / Heating strips located in the upper back area with four temperature ranges / Front LED lights / Small-sized electronic systems / Removable electronic systems for washing and maintenance.

We consider STORM SYSTEM provocative and engaged, in a sense the first innovative solution that could be expanded to a collective protection system.

Shelter and a Community Protection

Storm System is the starting point for the creation of a system of container-like structures for shelter. They are portable and flexible, yet resistant and technologically apt.

This modular system sits between macro-design and micro-architecture.

Its installation in empty or desolate urban spaces fosters the re-emergence of micro-communities and encourages cooperative actions. The materialisation of context specific micro-cities, which are mobile and easily transformed, responds to the needs of a post-catastrophic scenario by mitigating any forms of exclusion that may arise.

In this way, it contributes to the reconstruction of the urban and social environment after the catastrophe.

Social and modular architecture in the moment.
